Every now and then, we get a guitar in the office that really makes me go hmmmm. You know, the kind of guitar that you wrap your hands around and you just go "Ooh- that's nice". Then of course, you notice how the guitar hangs when you have her strapped on and of course you check yourself out in the mirror to see if, in-fact she looks good on you (stop it, you know you do it). Then comes the coup de gras; This is where you reach for the cord and ever so gentle slide it in (does this sound like porn)? Anyway, when I hooked this girl up, I decided to just go one on one with her and my trusty '59 tweed Champ. I didn't want to dilute this majestic lady of tone with a TS-9; I just wanted whatever she had and whatever I had to offer. I flipped the switch up. After all, that is what I like; the throaty tone that only a rhythm pickup can offer and we guitarists can understand. She did not disappoint, for, when I did the ghost of Gary Moore possessed me (I know he plays a Strat and a Les Paul). That doesn't really matter- what matters is, the ease of the notes which ensued. I went strait into Phil Lynott's " Don't Believe a Word", the slow version and The E,D and C blues ditty just oozed out with that classic pentatonic blues riff soon following. 'Elks, I didn't know what to do, cry or get a wet nap, but either one would have been appropriate in this case. As you know, every guitar is different and like us, possesses their on unique voice. The sustain and clarity of this guitar is beyond reproach and the feel is plain, vintage Gibson. After all, when you are up on stage. it will be just you and the guitar because simply put, that's all you got....
