I am not a guitar player. I am, in fact a bass player that can fingerpick just enough to aggravate anyone within earshot of my doodlings and the end result is, the guitar I'm attempting to play is usually taken away from me. That said, there is one universal subject to which I am somewhat well- versed and that is tone. I've heard hundreds, if not thousands of acoustic guitars in the last decade and when Lee first played this Polywog here in the 'Elkcave, I physically stopped what I was doing just to listen. This Martin can be described as nothing short of astonishing and is the absolute best sounding "0"- style guitar we've ever purchased. The only guitar that even comes close in tone and warmth is the Merrill OM- 28 and truth be told, I think I prefer this one. This Polywog produces a sound that belies it's size, with a warm, round bottom and clear, crisp highs that are so very well balanced. It's a beautiful example of the quality that can emerge in a limited form on occasion from the Martin Company. This 000- JBP has been fitted with an L. R. Baggs pickup system and if I've accurately described the acoustic sound, please feel free to use your imagination when thinking of this guitar plugged in. It reminds me of the tone Tommy Emmanuel had when we went to see him a few months ago and we still haven't stopped talking about that show. As always, additional photos and information are at the ready- here is the link to this guitar's page on the Martin website for those of you that would like to take a look at the particulars:
