** ON HOLD FOR RICK ** Ray and I did a little test on this 2550 because we wanted to know exactly what she is capable of. Of course, Ray being a bass player, I summoned him to bring me a Paul and a Strat. I then started off with the clean channel with no clipping at all. Just the raw basic settings. It's so perfectly clean, with no signs of breaking up or distortion. Basically, it shimmers.
I then switched it up into the lead channel and got a wonderfully solid distortion that screams with the definite ability to cut through the mix. These machines are high- gain amps and perfectly balanced in my view.
If you like your rhythm crunchy, engage the rhythm clip. Quite creamy. A little known fact is, the 2550's have more pronounced bass frequencies and with that, Ray was impressed. The lows just thump. The mids are nice and smooth, with highs that shimmer like diamonds. One thing that was extremely evident is, each note was clear. No muddiness about this amp at all so you won't be able to fake it with this baby. It will force you to play better and that can only be a good thing.
In my opinion, this is the amp that all Marshalls aspire to be.
"Elks, don't miss out. This is the tone you have been looking for. If you don't believe it. Just send it back, although we're sure that once bitten, you'll be addicted.... |
