As I listen to Jason Aldean's song, "The Truth", it makes me think of the specific role acoustic guitars play in Country music today and why we listen to this genre of music in general. If you have never heard the song, it's about a man telling his ex- flame that, if anyone asks about him, tell them he's neither here nor there but don't tell 'em they're not together any longer.
The acoustic in this song sounds stunning and the storytelling is as if you are sitting on the porch at Andy Griffith's house. I listen to this folk Americana in search of: in search of what is real in a land filled with hip hop Ebonics and what I'm looking for is a positive message. Through Country music, I've learned the value of hard work, the good Lord, a good woman and a big green tractor. And, if you're familiar with Country, then you'll know that the featured instrument is an acoustic guitar. From Jason Aldean, to Chris Young to George Jones and all parts in between, the acoustic guitar reigns supreme. Imagine then, if you will and as I'm typing, this beautiful D-42 sitting next to me. Every now and then, I strum chords patterns on this exceptional work of art just to provide me with new inspiration. The tone is unbelievable (really) and every note is as articulate and crisp as an Autumn morning. I guess I could tell you about the Sitka Spruce top, the scalloped bracing or on how labor intensive it is to do all the purfling, but you guys already know of that. Who I'm really trying to reach is the guy that has had a hard day at work and amid the static of a long drive home, needs the comfort that only a quality instrument can give him. If you are that story teller and want the perfect brush in which to paint your canvas, then my friend you have found it. Now all you need is a back deck, a bottle of Southern Comfort and the smell of an Autumn evening. The world is yours, now just go out and claim it. |
